Stalen Neuzen (film)
In this dance film choreographer Krisztina de Châtel takes her dancers and her memories to Hungary, her native country.
Bridges, squares, streets and inner courtyards are brought to life through dance. In search of peace and quiet they move to the countryside, the earth tears open and the journey continues with dancing and stamping . For this special dance film Krisztina de Châtel cooperated closely with director Erik van Zuylen and art director Conrad van de Ven. The result is a thrilling confrontation between three artists. A captivating film which shows Krisztina de Châtel’s work in a new light.
Stalen Neuzen was broadcasted on Dutch and Belgian television and was nominated for a ‘Gouden Kalf’ in the category best short film during the Dutch Film Festival 1996 in Utrecht.
Stalen Neuzen is available on 16-mm and video. Stalen Neuzen was co-produced by the NPS (Netherlands Broadcast Corporation), the BRTN (Belgium Radio and Television Network) and Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel.
The controlling itself: that turns out to be the whole point. Stalen Neuzen shows in beautiful images how forceful de Châtels will to control can be. (NRC Handelsblad)
