Nomade

Nomade

Choreographer Krisztina de Châtel breathes life into Picasso’s masterpieces with her dancers from Dansgroep Amsterdam. The site-specific dance performace Nomade, based on Picasso’s imagination of the circus, creates living and breathing paintings.

For this new project De Châtel has drawn inspiration from Picasso’s blue and pink periods, in particular his themes of burlesque and the circus. Reffering to the paintings hung in the surrounding galleries the choreography revelas the melancholy hidden behind the colourful countenances of the circus life. Modestly the dancers demonstrate the sadness of the wanderer and the life of the nomadic family.
