Infinite

Infinite

A choreography to Astor Piazzolla’s Eight Seasons, performed by violinist Gidon Kremer, in a special arrangement by Han Otten. The music weaves the original Piazzolla together with a musical commentary on it. The sensual, melancholy character of the tango is rudely interrupted by sudden violent alterations that put the music and dance in a new light, forcing the dancers to fight one’s way through the endless masse of short Piazolla’s fragments.

It is a successful mix of the more minimalistic and structured elements of de Châtel’s earlier work and the psychological undercurrent of Waltz (2010). (Het Parool)

Krisztina de Châtel was nevertheless the master of space. She once again proves this in Infinite, her contribution to Generations. (de Volkskrant)
